This Week in Heytesbury we’ll get straight into it with Round 12 pennant action and the finals are only a fortnight away

This Week in Heytesbury we’ll get straight into it with Round 12 pennant action and the finals are only a fortnight away

Starting this week’s Division one coverage, we have Scotts Creek 1 hosting Cobden 1 and both sides opened with a single in the first two ends of the match.

The home side pressed forward with a quad, before the visitors replied with a single, taking the lead 5-2 after four ends.

Triples either way progressed the match, but Cobden 1 picking up a single on end seven reduced the deficit to two shots.

While Scotts Creek 1 picked up a fiver on the next end. Cobden 1 then picked up the same on ends nine through 11 to take the lead 14-13.

The home side then continued to score, only allowing the visitors a double for the remainder of the match.

The next match was the battle of the Camperdowns – 1 v 2 and the visitors scored a pair of singles on the first two ends of the match, while the home side picked up their single on the next end.

By end six though, both sides were as many shots each until Camperdown 2 picked up a further seven shots over the next three ends to lead 13-6 on end nine.

Ends 10 through 12 were all Camperdown 1 however, including Camperdown 2 Skip Ron C taking jack off the mat and Camperdown 1 scoring a single on the replay to lead by one shot 14-13.

The visitors continued their attack, adding a further seven shots on ends 13 through 16 and only allowing the home side a double for the remainder of the match.

Camperdown 1 lost to Camperdown 2, 16-20.

The third match was Laang-Ecklin hosting Camperdown 3 and the visitors started off with a single and a double, while the home side replied with a pair of doubles in the first four ends of the match.

By end six however, both sides were locked up at five all and even three ends later, the score was still level at seven all.

Camperdown 3 then broke the deadlock with a single and a double on the next 2 ends, then Laang-Ecklin mounted their attack adding fourteen shots to their account partly aided by Camperdown 3 Third Margaret knocking the jackoff the mat.

The visitors managed to score a pair of singles to close out the match.

Rounding out the Division 1 coverage this week, was the Battle of the Timboon Lawns 1 v 2 and the visitors picked up a double before Timboon Lawn 1 Skip Brett taking jack off the mat but managed a single on the replay.

Both sides added five shots to their scores on ends three through nine to keep the match moving forward, until the home side started firing up and added another four shots to their ledger to only be one shot behind on end 12.

Unfortunately for Timboon Lawn 2 Skip Jason, also took the jack and Timboon Lawn 1 secured a double on the replay to take the lead 16-11 on end 13.

The visitors mounted a last ditch effort, adding a single and double to their score before the home side mounted a defence to lock out the invaders.

Timboon Lawn 1 defeated Timboon Lawn 2, 21-14.

Your Division 1 top four this week are: Timboon Lawn 1, Timboon Lawn 2, Scotts Creek 1, Camperdown 1.

This week’s Division 2 action heats up with 10 points separating first from sixth. Kicking off this week with Camperdown 4 hosting Glenormiston 2 and the visitors started the match with a double and a pair of singles, before the home side picked up a pair of singles on ends four and five.

Glenormiston 2 then continued with a double on the next end, but Camperdown 4 then picked up a single and a pair of doubles to take the lead 7-6.

This was short-lived as Glenormiston 2 then picked up a single on end 10 to level the match at seven all.

On the next end however, trouble for Camperdown 4 Third Liz as she and jack parted ways off the mat and Glenormiston 2 picking up a single on the replay.

The home side then picked up the pace in ends 12 through 14 as they levelled the score yet again at eleven all.

The visitors broke the impasse yet again with a single on the next end but the home side picked up a valuable triple on ends 16 to lead by two shots with as many ends to play.

On the penultimate end, the visitors picked up a much needed single to trail by one shot heading into the last end.

Unfortunately for Camperdown 4 Skip Les, took the jack and on the replay managed to secure a triple to draw the match.

Camperdown 4 drew with Glenormiston 2, 13 all.

The next match was Simpson 1 hosting Cobden 2 and the visitors started the match with a double and a single, before the home side picked up a double on end three.

Cobden then scored a double on the next end, before the home side rallied and picked up a double and a single on ends five and six to level the score at five all.

The next five ends changed little as both sides scored three shots to lock the score back up at eight all on end 11.

Cobden 2 then continued to score with a double and a single on ends 12 and 13 but on the next end, Simpson 1 Third Fred knocked off the mat but managed a triple back on the replay.

Momentum continued with the home side, picking up a single and double on ends 15 and 16 to level the match yet again at fourteen all with 2 ends to play.

Simpson 1 lost to Cobden 2, 14-16.

Our next match was the second battle of the Timboon Lawns – 4 v 3 and both sides opened up the match with singles either way.

On end third however, Timboon Lawn 3 Third Jim took the jack off the mat and Timboon Lawn 4 picked up a triple on the replay.

The visitors remained in touch with a quad on the next end trailing 5-7, before the home side picked up a single on the fifth end.

Unfortunately for Timboon Lawn 4 Third Keith knock off, then Timboon Lawn 3 picked up a double on the replay.

The home side picked up a pair of singles to level the match ten all after eight ends.

Not sure what happened to Timboon Lawn 4 after that but Timboon Lawn 3 locked the home side out of the remainder of the match.

Timboon Lawn 4 lost to Timboon Lawn 3, 10-24.

Closing out the Division 2 coverage this week was Glenormiston 1 hosting Scotts Creek 2 and the visitors scored a pair of singles in the first two ends of the match, while the home side scored a single on the third end.

Scotts Creek 2 continued with a single and a double on the next two ends, but Glenormiston 1 replied with a pair of doubles on ends six and seven to level the match at five all.

The visitors pressed forward with a pair of singles, while the home side replied with a double and a single to take the lead 8-7 after 11 ends.

Scotts Creek 2 kept pressing with luck seemingly going their way, keeping Glenormiston 1 to a single for the remainder of the match.

Glenormiston 1 lost to Scotts Creek 2, 9-17.

Your Division 2 top four this week are: Glenormiston 1 – 32pts; Cobden 2 – 28pts; Timboon Lawn 4 – 26pts, 118%; Glenormiston 2 – 26pts, 117.3%.

Division 3 coverage is right here and we start this week with Simpson 2 hosting Glenormiston 3 and the home side opened the match with a double.

Unfortunately for Simpson 2 Skip Alan, took the jack off the mat but managed a single on the replay to level the match a four all.

The fight continued as both sides were trading blows – Simpson 2 adding eleven shots to Glenormiston 2’s ten shots on ends three through 12 for Simpson 2 to lead by one shot.

A pair of singles on ends 13 and 14 for the home side, were matched by a double on the next end to remain in touch.

Simpson 2 then pushed the advantage, scoring a single and triple to lead 21-16, keeping the invaders at bay on the last end.

Needing to five to win, Glenormiston 3 had five shots in the head until Simpson 1 Skip Allen drew the shot with the last bowl of the match to win.

Simpson 2 defeat Glenormiston 3, 22-16.

The next match was Glenormiston 4 hosting Peterborough and the home side got off to a flyer in the first four ends of the match scoring nine shots, partly helped by Peterborough Third Lorna telling jack to change its underwear off the mat but Glenormiston 4 picked up a single on the replay.

The visitors picked up a double on the next end to start their campaign.

Two shots either way on ends five through seven progressed the match forward and the home side continued, picking up a double and a single, while the visitors picked up a pair of singles on ends 11 and 12 to reclaim some much needed shots.

But it was tough going as they would only score three shots for the remainder of the match.

Glenormiston 4 defeated Peterborough 23-9.

Ending this week’s Pennant coverage was Scotts Creek 3 hosting Wiridjil and the home side got off to a god start with a triple and a quad, while the visitors opened their account with a triple in the first three ends of the match. Scotts Creek 3 then continued on the next end with a triple but ends five through 10 were all Wiridjil, adding fourteen shots to their score leading 17-10.

The next four ends belonged to Scotts Creek 3, replying with ten shots of their own to re-take the lead 20-17 with three ends to play.

Not to be outdone, Wiridjil picked up a triple on end 16 to lock up the match at 20 all with two ends to play.

Wiridjil scored a valuable double on the penultimate end but Scotts Creek 3 scored a triple on the last end.

Scotts Creek defeated Wiridjil, 23-22.

Your Division 3 top five this week: Glenormiston 3 – 40pts, 168.5%; Glenormiston 4 – 40 pts, 150.6%; Simpson 2 – 24 pts; Scotts Creek 3 – 16 pts, 84.1%; Peterborough – 16 pts, 63.8%.
