Heytesbury indoor bias bowls association- Notes

THE 2023 pennant finals have begun for Heytesbury Indoor Bias Bowls.

The Timboon Sports Stadium hosted the semi-finals last Wednesday.

In division one, top-of-the-table Scotts Creek 1 played Timboon Lawn 2 and won, 21-10.

Congratulations to Scotts Creek 1 who has progressed straight through to the grand final.

Third placed Timboon Lawn 1 defeated fourth placed Laang Ecklin, 26-15.

In the division two semi-final it was the battle of the Mepungas, 2 v 1 – husband (George Draffen) versus wife (Barb Draffen).

Mepunga 2 kept pressing the advantage and defeated Mepunga 1, 20-8.

Congratulations to Mepunga 2 going straight through to the grand final.

Third-placed Simpson 2 played fourth-placed Glenormiston 2 and defeated them 21-17.

In division three, ladder leaders Glenormiston 3 took on Cobden 2 and won 18-10.

Third-placed Scotts Creek 3 played fourth-placed Timboon Lawn 5 and lost 13-16.

The preliminary finals were held at Timboon last Friday.

In division one’s battle of the Timboon Lawns, 2 defeated 1, 25-13 and will now face Scotts Creek 1 in the grand final this week.

In division two, Mepunga 2 played Simpson 2 and the match was level at 19-all after 11 ends.

In the end Mepunga 2 defeated Simpson 2, 32-19.

Cobden 2 played Timboon Lawn 5 and again this match was pretty even through the first 12 ends.

In the end, Cobden 2 lost to Timboon lawn 5, 16-18.

Timboon Lawn 5 will now play Glenormiston 3 in the grand final.

The grand finals will begin with roll-up at 7.45pm tonight (Wednesday) for an 8pm start.

Tea/coffee provided, players $7, spectators $2.

The next HIBBA event was the drawn pairs and congratulations to the following club champions:

Camperdown - Gary Body and Lois Johnstone; Cobden - David Childs and Paul Dwyer; Glenormiston - Ron Heard and Rita Pasque; Scotts Creek - Peter Baker and Trevor Hobbs; Simpson - Gary Langenhuizen and Harvey Robbins; Timboon - Arthur Finch and Sjon Berry.

The draw will be distributed shortly and the event will be played at Timboon Lawn next Wednesday, August 9.

Good luck to Pam Wines and David Childs who will compete against other association champion of champions in Sunshine this Sunday.

A reminder that Indoor Bowls Warrnambool is holding its open fours tournament this weekend.
