Last weekend the VIBBA men’s and womenb’s fours and pairs were played.

In the fours, five players were from Heytesbury – Allen Armistead, Peter Baker and Scott Pierce, along with Jim Bullow (eastern suburbs); Pam Wines skipping with a Ballarat team and Max Wines playing in a composite team with Waaia and Warrnambool players.

Unfortunately, none of the teams made it past the first round.

On Sunday, the pairs action kicked off with representation from both sides – Peter Baker and Brett Mungean, and Scott Pierce and Allen Armistead.

Unfortunately Scott and Allen didn’t get past the first round but Brett and Peter had better luck against Craig Fleming (northern districts).

In the second round, they came up against Ben Jackson (South Group) and son but unfortunately lost by one shot.

Jean Clover and Pam Dwyer, and Pam Wines and Trish Speechley (Ballarat) played well.

Pam and Trish had a bye in the first round, while Pam and Jean played Karen and Cindy Brodie (south group) and moved on to the next round.

In the second round, Pam and Trish lost to Anne Draffen and Jodie Jones (composite).

Jean and Pam played Betty McKay (northern districts) and progressed into the semi-finals where they defeated Michelle Tait and Di Tobin (Ballarat) before meeting Jodie Jones and Anne Draffen in the grand final.

Despite being eight all after nine ends, congratulations to our 2023 VIBBA women’s pairs runners-up, Jean Clover and Pam Dwyer.

On Friday, July 21 at Timboon Sports Stadium from 7pm the singles champions from Heytesbury clubs will face off against each other to crown the HIBBA Champion of Champions.

A draw will be presented next week, along with a list of clubs’ singles champions.
