THE association fours were played last Wednesday at Camperdown.

THE association fours were played last Wednesday at Camperdown.
In the first round, both Simpson (Kate Walsh, Leo van der Broek, Fred Salmon and Lyndon Rogerson) and Timboon Lawn (Rita Mungean, Jason Mungean, Lara Mungeanand George Fox) had byes.
In the first match, Glenormiston (Harmony Rasmussen, Dawn Hilton, Jim Wallace and Max Heard) lost to Camperdown (John Morgan, Liz Riches, Gordon Weller and Gary Body) 10-12.
Camperdown then went on to play Simpson in the semi-finals and won 21-8.
In the other first round match, Cobden (Jill Lynch, Gerrit Bekker, Doreen Coverdale and Joyce Roberts) defeated Scotts Creek (Helen Hobbs, Ian Cunnington, Neville Robb and Peter Baker) 15-8.
Cobden then met Timboon Lawn in the semi-finals and won 19-13.
The final was played between Cobden and Camperdown.
The mat was moved to a position not normally used by Camperdown to ensure fairness to all players.
The start of the match was tense as both sides fought hard to retain the shot.
After 14 ends, the score was level at 13-all.
A coin toss, won by Camperdown, saw Cobden in to play first, giving Camperdown the last bowl of the match.
The level of bowls being played at that time of night (close to 1am) was phenomenal, and a true test of a player’s abilities.
Bowls were exchanged in and out both ways, but in the end Cobden defeated Camperdown 14-13 in an extra end.
Congratulations to the HIBBA Fours Champions, Cobden - Jill Lynch, Gerrit Bekker, Doreen Coverdale and Joyce Roberts (s).
Well done to runners-up Camperdown – John Morgan (sub), Liz Riches, Gordon Weller and Gary Body (s).
Thanks to Camperdown for hosting the HIBBA Fours and thank you to everyone that helped set up and pack down at the end of the night.
