THIS week Heytesbury is running hot so we’ll get straight into it with Round 10 Pennant action and the Finals are calling.

Starting this week’s Division one coverage, we have Scotts Creek 1 hosting Laang-Ecklin and the home side started off positively, scoring four shots in the first three ends of the match.

But the visitors weren’t to be outdone, scoring the same amount in the next three ends, squaring up the match at four all after six ends.

Ends seven through ten were all Scotts Creek 1, adding a pair of singles and a pair of doubles to take the lead 10-4.

Laang-Ecklin weren’t done yet, as they picked up a trio of singles and a triple to level the match at ten all with four ends to play. The visitors pressed the advantage in the next three ends with singles scored and on the last end, the home side could only manage a single. Scotts Creek 1 lost to Laang-Ecklin 11-13.

The next match was Timboon Lawn 1 hosting Camperdown 1 and the visitors opened the match with a single. The home side then secured a triple, double and triple respectively on the next three ends to lead 8-1.

Camperdown 1 then secured a single and a triple on ends five and six to reduce the deficit to three shots but Timboon Lawn 1 scored the same back on ends seven and eight to maintain their lead.

The visitors halted the run with a single on the next end, however the home side picked up a double on end ten to lead 14-6.

A single, triple and double both ways progressed the match forward and at one point, got Camperdown 1 within eight shots but Timboon Lawn 1 def. Camperdown 1, 24-12.

The third match was Camperdown 3 hosting Timboon Lawn 2 and the visitors opened up the match with a trio of singles and another single on end five but by end eight, the home side had squared the match off at four all.

A pair of singles to Camperdown 3 and a double to Timboon Lawn 2 changed little, even a quad on end 12 to the home side and a single and triple to the visitors on ends 13 and 14 still had the game tied but at ten all with four ends to play.

Camperdown 3 broke the silence with a single but Timboon Lawn 2 bagged a sextuplet on end 16 to lead 16-11. After a close match, the visitors replicated the previous end, with Camperdown 3 losing to Timboon Lawn 2, 12-22.

Rounding out the Division 1 coverage this week, was Camperdown 2 hosting Cobden 1 and the visitors got off to an early lead scoring five shots to a single but by end seven, the home side picked up the pace to be six all.

Cobden 1 broke the deadlock with a double on the next end to lead, but Camperdown 1 scored a single, triple and another single to retake the lead 11-8 after 11 ends. Not sure what came first on end 12 however – Camperdown 2 Third Ron A teaching jack a lesson off the mat or Cobden 1 Second Margaret disgusted with jack’s attitude but Camperdown 2 picked up a single on the replay.

Cobden 1 the secured a pair of valuable singles to be within one shot with four ends to go but that is where their night would end. The no score on end 16 didn’t help their cause either with Camperdown 2 def. Cobden 1, 18-14.

Your Division 1 top four this week are: Timboon Lawn 2, Timboon Lawn 1, Scotts Creek 1, Camperdown 1.

This week’s Division 2 action kicks off with the Glenormiston 1 v 2 and last time, the battle was won by Glenormiston 1. The “home side” started off with five shots in the first three ends of the match, with the “visitors” opening their account with a double on end four.

Glenormiston 1 then continued to push with a double and a pair of singles to extend their lead 9-2 after seven ends. Unfortunately for Glenormiston 2 Skip Ron, jack was less than co-operative on the mat but Glenormiston 1 grabbed a single on the replay.

The visitors grabbed a single on the next end but the home side then picked up a double on end ten. Triples either way progressed the match forward, then Glenormiston 2 picked up a much needed double and fiver to claw back the deficit to six shots with four ends to go. Glenormiston 1 held their ground, defeating Glenormiston 2, 24-14.

The next match was Timboon Lawn 4 hosting Scotts Creek 2 and the home side got off to a flyer, scoring seven shots in the first five ends of the match. The visitors scored a double and a single on ends six and seven to start their campaign. A single on the next end to Timboon Lawn 4 extended their lead but Scotts Creek 2 were on a charge with a double and a single on ends nine and ten to trail 6-8.

Quads either way on the next 2 ends changed little but the single on end 13 by the visitors reduced the deficit to one shot. Unfortunately for Scotts Creek 2 Skip Neville, jack was quite argumentative and left the mat in disgust but managed a single on the replay.

The next end wasn’t any better as Neville was still remonstrating with jack off the mat but this time, Timboon Lawn 4 scored a single on the replay. Despite getting four shots back in ends 16 and 17, Timboon Lawn 4 def. Scotts Creek 2 22-16.

Our next match was Simpson 1 hosting Camperdown 4 and the home side opened the match with a sextuplet. The visitors opened with a single on the next end.

Unfortunately for Camperdown 4, third Liz, jack was off the mat but led to a double on the replay. A pair of singles either way advanced the match forward on ends four through seven but a triple to Simpson 1 extended their lead 14-5.

A single on end nine for the visitors would be the last time they scored for the remainder of the match. Simpson 1 def. Camperdown 4, 40-6.

Closing out the Division 2 coverage this week was Cobden 2 hosting Timboon Lawn 4 and Cobden 2 lead Bill, led jack off the mat on first end of the match but Timboon Lawn 3 grabbed a single on the replay. By end 3 however, the home side picked up a pair of singles to right the ship.

Singles either was on ends four and five changed little but Timboon Lawn 3 broke through with a single and a double on the next two ends to lead 6-3.

Cobden 2 had other ideas though, scoring a double and a single to tie the match again at six all on end nine but then continued to bag another two singles to take the lead 8-6.

Not to be outdone, Timboon Lawn 3 mounted a late charge, bagging a single, double quad and another double on ends 12 through 15 to not only claw back the deficit but retake the lead 15-8 with three ends to play.

Cobden 2 countered the late charge with a single and a double to trail by four shots heading into the last end. In what was probably a very tense time for everyone, Cobden 2 drew Timboon Lawn 3, 15 all.

Your Division 2 top five this week are: Glenormiston 1 – 28pts; Timboon Lawn 4 – 26 pts; Simpson 1 – 20pts, 121.1%; Glenormiston 2 – 20 pts, 112.3%; Cobden 2 – 20pts, 97.6%.

Division 3 coverage, we start this week with Peterborough hosting Wiridjil and both sides scored three shots in the first five ends of the match.

The visitors broke the impasse with a double on the next end, but the home side countered with a triple on end seven.

Wiridjil picked up a single on the next end to lock it up at six all and singles either way on ends nine and ten made the score seven all.

Peterborough then scored a triple to take the lead once again, but Wiridjil replied with a double on end 12 to trail by one shot. The home side then started to push forward with a pair of doubles and a triple on ends 13 through 15 to take the lead 17-9 with three ends left to play.

The visitors tried to claw back the deficit with a pair of singles but Peterborough def. Wiridjil 18-11. The next match was meant to be Simpson 2 hosting Scotts Creek 3 but Simpson 2 gave the walkover to Scotts Creek 3. Hopefully, we’ll see Simpson 2 play next week.

Ending this week’s Pennant coverage was the second Battle of the Glenormistons – 4 v 3 and last time, the battle was won by Glenormiston 4. The “visitors” opened the match with a single, before the home side picked up a double and a triple on the next two ends of the match.

A pair of singles either way progressed the match forward on ends four through seven and even three shots either way on ends eight through ten kept Glenormiston 4 ahead of Glenormiston 3, 10-6.

A single to the home side kept the invaders at bay but the visitors started to charge with a pair of doubles on ends 12 and 13 to reduce the deficit to one shot.

Quads on the next two ends made the match shorter and Glenormiston 4 responded on end 16 with a double to lead 17-14 with two ends to play. A valuable double on the penultimate end brought the deficit back to one shot and on the last end, it came down to the last bowl again.

Glenormiston 4 were one down in the head when the Skips went to bowl and in the end, Glenormiston 4 lost to Glenormiston 3, 17-18.

Your Division 3 top 4 this week: Glenormiston 3, Glenormiston 4, Simpson 2, Scotts Creek 3.
