Art adventure: Carol Eagle will be showing off her latest ventures into new techniques and styles at the upcoming open studio at Peacock Hall.

Peacock Hall, which sits behind the St Paul’s Anglican Church hall at 13 Church Street, will be showing off the works of artists Carol Eagle, Merrian Dennis, Dannie Dupleix, Monique Pope and newest member Fiona Haywood.

Ms Eagle said Ms Haywood has been working on lace-making since she joined following the Federal Election campaign earlier in the year.

“Having a lace-maker is an added skill to bring into our mix,” she said.

“It’s a chance to see her work, which is a reviving art as you see a lot more of it on social media.

“It’s to let the community know what’s being created here.

“It lets the community see all our new work and see what we’ve been doing throughout the year.

“I’ve been moving into more abstract quilting, figure-making and more.”

Ms Haywood said she feels privileged to have been asked to join with the Peacock Hall artists

“I’ve been getting back into doing crafts as I’ve been working on the farm since I moved here, and I haven’t had the chance to do any craft,” she said.

“I met Merrian and Carol during the election campaign and we got talking.

“Initially, I went to Merrian’s basket-weaving group and was then asked to come here.

“I’m hoping to get back into crafting regularly.”

Ms Dennis said she has been busy preparing works for a new exhibition she is hoping to be a part of in coming months.

“I’m just working on my current body of work, which is inspired by a trip I did to Alice springs – Gnotuk to Alice Springs,” she said.

“I’m getting work organised to have an exhibition somewhere next year.

“Carol will be having her Christmas decoration extravaganza on display as well – beautiful handmade decorations.

“There’ll be work for sale, on exhibition and work to just admire – it’ll be an explosion of colour.”

The free open studio event will open on Saturday, November 8 from 10am-3pm, opening again on Sunday, November 9.

“We’ve got the garden open as well, which will be absolutely beautiful,” she said.

“The roses aren’t out yet and they’ll hopefully looking gorgeous by the day.

“It’s more or less exposure – we sit here and create quietly all year, so it’s a chance for friends and the community to see what we’ve been making.”
