Historical calendars now available
THE Derrinallum Lismore History Group have unveiled their calendar for 2026, featuring historical photographs of the Derrinallum and Lismore district.
The calendar was launched at last Sunday’s Derrinallum Town and Country Market, featuring photos of historical buildings, significant moments in local history and sporting club photos.
History Group president Sandy Gibson said the calendar serves as the group’s major annual fundraiser and is always well-supported.
“We have a lot of support from repeat buyers – even if they’re not in it, they might know a lot of the people who are like to send them off to their friends or people who are in it but are no longer local,” she said.
“It spreads far and wide.
“Sometimes they’re topical, and sometimes they are photos no-one has even seen before.
“Sometime people share their photos with us for the calendar.”
Now in its 14th year of production, the calendar features 14 photos from the history group’s collection ranging from 1857 to 2025.
Collection manager Avon Buchholz said the calendars often travel the world, being posted to England and Africa by people who send them to those with family ties to the district.
“It’s easy to post, but it’s very difficult to choose photos,” she said.
“It was Lismore’s turn to be on the front this year – the two towns take it in turn.
“Last year, we had the Derrinallum Bank on the front and this year it’s the Lismore Presbyterian Church.
“Often, we have photos where we have no names, so it gives us an excuse to research the names and get people to help out.
“We might get those names this year when the calendar is in circulation.”
The calendars are $10 each, which Mrs Gibson said had never gone up since the first calendar was published in 2011.
“Some people say they never hang them up – they keep them as a collection to show people but don’t write on these ones,” she said.
Calendars are available at Wooltrack Store in Lismore’s High Street or at Derrinallum Foodworks.
