Hockey finals start
CORANGAMITE hockey enjoyed week one of the winter competition finals.
CORANGAMITE hockey enjoyed week one of the winter competition finals.
In the under 16s, Lakers played Mariners in the first semi-final.
Terrific hockey spirit was displayed by Mariners who kindly lent their opposition four players to cover those who were out sick or injured.
Some quick plays saw the ball lingering in the front of Lakers goals but unfortunately conversions weren’t made.
The coach's award went to Noah for great work in defence and for being a great support to the centre players and moving the ball forward.
Semi-final two had Craters playing top team Technique.
After a tough first quarter and some quarter-time advice from coach Jason, Craters stemmed the goal flow and the second half saw an increase in attacking play.
In a tough game, it was pleasing to see Craters never giving up and working together to get the ball out of defence.
Taleah was the coach's award recipient after sticking to her player as instructed and improving with every game.
Next week will see the play-off for third between the Corangamite teams.
Good luck to all players.
