THIRTY-seven players contested round two of club championships at the Cobden Golf Club last Sunday.

A highlight of the day was a hole-in-one by Jeremy Lucas on the 10th hole.

C. Elsum took out A grade with net 68, closely followed by M. Darcy net 69.

In B grade, D. Stewart won on net 67 with J. Rix the runner-up on net 73.

T. Gardner won C grade on net 72 while S. McKenzie was runner-up on 73.

G. Byrne won D grade on 69 from B. Smith 71 and H. Rix 71 on countback.

Nearest the pin on the fourth and seventh holes was J. Reed while A. Stevens was closest second on the second and T. Rix was closest second on the 14th.

Balls down the line went to A. Couch, H. Rix, T. Rix, D. Oakley, C. Sargeant and J. Lucas.

Other winners were:

A grade – D. Oakley 148, A. Couch 156 and T. Rix 159.

B grade – D. Stewart 162, C. Sargeant 165 and D. Absalom 176.

C grade – J. Mason 189, B. Bourke 192 and A. Holster 194.

D grade – G. Byrne 197, B. Smith 205 and K. Duffin 205.

Round one of the championships was played on Saturday and attracted a field of 40 players.

J. Lucas won A grade on net 69, followed by D. Oakley on 71.

D. Stewart net 68 won B grade from C. Sargent 69.

C grade went to J. Mason 9 from B. Bourke while D grade was won by B. Welsby on 71 from G. Byrne 73.

Nearest the pins went to S. Rix on the 4th, B. Bourke on the 7th, D. Beard 10th, A. Holster closest second on the second and D. Absalom closest on the 14th.

Balls down the line: D. Buckle, D. Beard, D. Absalom, B. Smith, T. Dowell, T. Gardner and J. Beard.

Tyran Dowell eagled the second hole.

A grade – D. Oakley 73, J. Lucas 78 and D. Beard 78.

B grade – C. Sargeant 80 and D. Stewart 82.

C grade – J. Mason 90, T. Gardner 91 and B. Bourke 91.

D grade – G. Byrne 101, K. Duffin 102 and B. Welsby 103.

Eighteen ladies participated in the second round of championships on November 15.

A grade was won by Sherine Healey with 67 stableford points followed by Ellen Darcy on 71.

B grade was won by Janine Stevens on 66, who was also the November monthly medal winner. The runner-up was Pat Tickner on 68.

Nearest the pin on the fourth hole went to Di Adams (A grade), Janine Stevens (B grade) and Judy Myers (C grade).

Nearest on the 10th went to Sue Couch (B grade) and Ev Boyd (C grade).

Nearest on the seventh hole was Sherine Healey, who was also nearest second shot on the eighth.

Balls down the line: Sue Couch 68, Rhonda Alexander 69, Ellen Darcy, Ev Boyd and Kate Parlour 71.

This Saturday, November 25, will be round three of the club championshjp plus the December monthly medal.
