THE old saying ‘you have got to be in it to win it’ rang true this week as the Camperdown College Major Raffle was drawn and three lucky prize winners announced.

Rose Messer, who received the surprising phone call on Tuesday afternoon said she could not believe her luck.

“If it wasn’t the principal calling me, I wouldn’t have believed it was true,” she said.

Camperdown College School Council member and driver of the major raffle Luke Webb said the support from the community during another challenging year had been greatly appreciated.
“Trying to market a major raffle offering a travel voucher during a pandemic was certainly a challenge,” he said.

“It was difficult to move around the community to sell the tickets, it was difficult to promote a holiday when for many weeks we were in lockdown.

“What was evident though was the support from the community and the resilience shown in how we tackled the project.”

Mr Webb said online sales and social media networks made contact from all corners of the country possible, but it turned out to be a winner from right here in our backyard.

“The Messers are an involved family amongst the Camperdown College community and are always great supporters of our school,” he said.

“It’s wonderful to see such deserving winners and we wish them all the best deciding how to make use of the $10,000 Helloworld Camperdown travel voucher.”

Caroline Nash was the lucky winner of a Grampians weekend escape thanks to Aspect Villas and Grampians wine and helicopter tours when she was drawn for second prize.

Jess Bellis will be enjoying $1000 of free fuel from Riordan Fuels as the winner of third prize.
