Infinite Health Co co-owners Nick Hose and Melissa Pitman formed a team with physiotherapist Cara Booth to participate in the Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay last month.

The team rode from Mildura to Port Fairy, which saw cyclists travel 520 kilometres over the course of the weekend as a relay team.

Ms Pitman said she was inspired to participate after seeing someone else doing the relay, having previously not heard of the Murray to Moyne relay.

“Lo and behold, we had members in the past who have done the Murray to Moyne, and there used to be a consistent Camperdown team,” she said.

“We wanted to raise funds for the Camperdown Hospital because it’s our local hospital.

“We started two weeks before the race and we had $750.

“We ten folded it in two weeks.

“The support from local businesses and everyone on the team chipping in was really good.”

South West Healthcare Camperdown Hospital nurse unit manager Kirsty Mitchell received the cheque on Wednesday, saying she was amazed at how quickly the Infinite Health Co team was able to raise the money.

“The team have done a great job,” she said.

“We’re getting a triage chair, which is a reclining chair we can do treatments in in our triage area – when people come into urgent care, we do a triage.

“Sometimes they’re sicker than we first thought so we need the chair to be able to lay them flat and do different procedures on them or CPR if needed.”

Ms Mitchell said a portion of the fundraising total will also be used to begin the next fundraising target.

“We’re looking at the next fundraising option being for a cooling blanket,” she said.

“When our palliative care patients pass away, they need to be moved into a mortuary, but some families want a bit longer to say their goodbyes or if they come from interstate.

“The cooling blanket will allow us to keep them there a bit longer. “

Mr Hose said he was pleased to be able to support the Camperdown Hospital in purchasing new equipment.

“I’m very happy we were able to support and help out in some way,” he said.

“We’re very appreciative for everyone who chipped in.

“Melissa and Cara did a lot of the work.”

Ms Pitman extended her gratitude to everyone who donated to their team

“Without the community support, you don’t get to raise this sort of money, so it’s nice to see Camperdown step up and help out the hospital,” she said.

“The more facilities you can fund at the hospital the better.

“It benefits everybody in the town.
