Huge success for Moana Jnr production
CAMPERDOWN College is celebrating the success of their production of Moana Jr last week.
Students and staff had worked on the performance since mid-February, with producer and director Graeme Bennett singing their praises following the final show on Friday, June 14.
“The fourteen students in the cast undoubtedly delivered magical performances that wowed audiences and set an amazing production standard for a small country school,” he said.
“These students have been working together since mid-February to bring Moana Jnr to the stage and have all demonstrated incredible commitment, determination and teamwork.
“They have each grown in confidence and have done something they once thought impossible and I congratulate them all on what they have achieved individually and collectively.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to work with them and to see their self-belief grow and blossom.”
Mr Bennett extended his gratitude to all those who worked behind the scenes to put the show together.
“Mercy Rothman took on the role of choreographer, as well as being on the stage herself, and had everyone looking like professional dancers,” he said.
“Nancy Leonard-Pekin and Callani Winsall, our stage crew, ensured that scene changes were perfect.
“The hair and makeup students of the Camperdown College Trade Training Centre made all the cast members look outstanding and the Year 9/10 elective students who spent many hours painting sets that came alive under the stage lights.
“Thanks too to Nick Cole for his expertise with sound and to Tony Dupleix and Archie Rees who created amazing lighting effects.”
Mr Bennett said planning for next year’s production had already begun.
“Moana Jnr will be hard to top, but we will give it our best shot,” he said.
“Thank you to all the Camperdown College staff who supported the show in so many ways, and finally, a huge thank you to everyone who came along to see the show – having wonderful audiences to perform to was a fitting reward to all the students of the cast who gave so much to make Moana Jnr a reality.”
