Humphrey boots nine for Demons
NINE goals from Austin Humphrey has led Lismore/Derrinallum to a 106-point win over SMW Rovers in their round 10 Mininera and District senior football match on Saturday.
The Demons kept their unbeaten record intact with the 20.14.134 to 4.4.28 win.
“Austin was pretty much everywhere, if he wasn’t kicking goals, he was laying tackles,” Lismore/Derrinallum coach Alec Wiltshire said.
“He’s pretty good with the ball or just as good without it; with the ability to lock the footy inside our forward 50.”
Wiltshire added that the tally for Humphrey could have been even higher.
“He kicked his first six or seven straight, then missed a few, he ended up with six behinds and a couple out on the full as well.”
With regular key forward Lachie Constable well held, Jack Parker stepped up to kick four goals.
“Rovers started ultra negative with three on Lachie before the first bounce then he was going up against four, so we changed things up in the second half and he rolled through the midfield just to keep him in the game, which he loved, he would have had half a dozen clearances after that.
“Jack knows how to play footy and basically once we moved Constable to the midfield, he played full forward after that, it was good to see him hit the scoreboard.”
Defender Steven Ryan was also one of the Demons best in the win.
“Steve plays on a wing and half back and he would’ve had probably 100 per cent efficiency by foot on Saturday, his left foot always uses the ball pretty well.
“He was right in his element because he set us up behind the footy and penetrated through their flooding style tactics.”
With no footy this weekend, the next game for the Demons is on July 11 against third-placed Caramut at Caramut.
“To be 10 and zero, you can’t do any more than that.
“We’ll use the break to recharge and come back with a new focus after that.”
The reserves match also saw the Demons win strongly, 25.12.162 to 3.1.19.
Brock Reid, Kaleb McIlveen and Jack Pitts were best in the win, with Reid kicking six goals and McIlveen five.
There was no junior football with the Rovers not fielding under 17 and under 13 teams in 2026.
The A grade netball saw Lismore/Derrinallum register a strong 53-26 win.

Lismore/Derrinallum took out the B grade game with a 58-14 win.
