Icy start for hockey

WHILE last Saturday morning started off icy and cold, it wasn’t long before the sun warmed the ground and Corangamite hockey teams were playing in full sun.

Congratulations to all team members for playing in good spirits and showing some great development as the season progresses.

The final round of the current season will be played on July 5.

In a fast-paced under 18 match last Friday, the Lakers went down to the Strikers 3-1.

An emphasis was given to direct passing and communication, allowing the defence to feed the ball to the team’s forwards.

Patrick scored with a great hit close to the goal while Noah was the ‘You Rock’ winner for his amazing defensive play and persistence.

In the under 15s, Corangamite faced a tough Portland side.

Portland currently sits on top of the ladder and despite a 0-6 scoreline, Corangamite showed grit and determination throughout the match.

The club was proud to welcome a new player who made their debut, bringing fresh energy to the squad.

Additionally, another Corangamite player stepped up to support the team, showing the strong spirit within the club.

While Portland proved why they’re leading the competition, the Corangamite players held their own and didn’t give up, continuing to fight until the final whistle.

The result doesn’t reflect the effort and resilience shown on the field, and the experience gained will only make the team stronger moving forward.

Harrison earned the “You Rock” award this week.
