Important win for Tigers

SIMPSON’S strong run in the Colac and District senior football competition continued on Saturday with an important four point win over Irrewarra-Beeac.

Going into the game Simpson was four points behind Irrewarra-Beeac and now sit level on points and just four per cent behind the Bombers after the 8.9.57 to 8.5.53 win at the Simpson Recreation Reserve.

The win now opens up a gap for the Tigers, who are three games ahead of South Colac, Birregurra and the Western Eagles.

Best for the Tigers in the win were Gus Hawkes, Darcy Leishman, Louis Duynhoven, Ryleigh McVilly, Jayden Gass and Lachlan Gass.

Duynhoven, Tom Leishman and Jarrod Garth were the multiple goal kickers, all with two each.

This week the Tigers will head to Apollo Bay to play the bottom-of-the-ladder Hawks.

The reserves match saw Irrewarra-Beeac score a 8.10.58 to 4.5.29 win.

Shaun Guy, Brock Neal, Jayden McVilly were the best for the Tigers in the loss, with Jono Jennings kicking three goals.

The under 15 football saw Irrewarra-Beeac have a strong 10.7.67 to 3.2.20 win.

Jyda Randle, Fin Mahoney, Ben Vogels were best for Simpson, with Kaiden Teal, Harry Vogels and Olinto Ferrari kicking a goal each.

Irrewarra-Beeac were also too strong in the under 12 football with a 12.14.86 to 1.1.7 win, with Miles Capizzi kicking the only goal for the junior Tigers.

The A grade netball saw Simpson win its fourth game of the season with a 35-33 win over the sixth placed Irrewarra-Beeac.

Holly Duynhoven, Paige Salmon and Amy Pemberton were Simpson’s best in the win, with Holly Duynhoven shooting 22 goals and Eliza Duynhoven 13.

The B grade game saw a 38-33 win to Irrewarra-Beeac.

Kara Tyrer, Rachael Duynhoven and Tahlia Daniels were best for Simpson, with Duynhoven shooting 23 goals and Jessie Harding 11.

Irrewarra-Beeac took out the C grade game 39-23.

Sharni Mason, Rachael Duynhoven and Chloe Cameron were best in the loss for Simpson, with Duynhoven shooting 10 goals.

The D grade game saw Simpson record a 25-20 victory.

India Edwards, Brianna Ferrari and Leesa Seabrook were best for the Tigers, with Rebecca Foster shooting 13 goals and Ferrari 11.

Irrewarra-Beeac scored a commanding 57-19 win in the 17 and under netball.

Nyha Ford, Tyra Sambell and India Edwards were best for the Tigers in the loss, with Kustom Robertson shooting 14 goals.

Irrewarra-Beeac also got the points in the 15 and under netball with a tight 41-20 win.

Charlie Wilson, Halle Barake and Milah Crole were best for the Tigers, with Crole and Keisha McVilly shooting eight goals each.

The 13 and under netball saw Simpson score a 26-12 win.

Kensie Austin, Nyha Ford and Charlotte Pascoe were best for the junior Tigers in the loss with Austin shooting 14 goals and Ford 10.
