Inaugural Cup win for Lismore
THE newly inaugurated Jackson-Dudman Cup was played for on Saturday in the round 14 Grenville Cricket Association match between Carranballac and Lismore, with a narrow win giving Lismore the honour of being the first to hold the cup.

The cup is named after Carranballac stalwart Luke Jackson and current Lismore captain Clint Dudman; modern day greats of both clubs.
The cup was initiated before play, Dudman completely unaware he was to be honoured in such a way.
“It was very surprising, I had no idea about it at all,” Dudman said.
“I’ve played against Jacko for 20 years or so, he’s always been a competitor, it’s always great to have a beer with him after a game.”
The mutual respect as long-term rivals has seen a friendship develop between the pair.
“We’ve become great mates, we both love our cricket.
“We regularly text or snapchat about the competition during the week no matter who we are playing.”
With Carranballac’s ground recently decimated by fire, this was the first of the Koalas’ final two home games shifted to the turf wicket at Tatyoon (which currently only has junior teams).
Batting first, Lismore struggled to be all out for 99 in 29.1 overs.
Openers Cooper Cahill and Lachie Constable put on 41 for the first wicket before Lismore lost 10 for 58.
Dudman believes the match is the first ever Grenville CA fixture to be played on turf.
“We had a look before the game, it wasn’t a bad wicket despite what the scores showed.
“We collapsed through the middle order, our lack of turf experience showed.”
Carranballac was in early trouble at 2/10 with an early wicket each to the Brett brothers before they started to put together some partnerships.
Left armer Jack Atkins bowled well to claim 2/9 from eight overs, including the important wicket of Jackson.
“Jack bowled exceptionally well, he’s had a bit more recent turf experience than most of us.”
But it was spin at both ends that did the job for Lismore.

Off-spinner Lachie Constable bowled Carranballac opener Eric Duff for a match high 35.
With fellow offie Scott Walker on at the other end, the pair took five wickets between them.
Constable took 2/12 from eight overs, while Walker, relieved of his wicket-keeping duties, took 3/17 from 7.2 overs, including the final wicket, a Matt Murray stumping.
“The spinners were fantastic despite us dropping a fair few chances.
“Lachie bowled really tight, Scott did what he’s done all year, picking up valuable wickets.”
Carranballac was dismissed for 97 with four balls remaining.
Hayden Brett finished with 2/21 from eight overs, with Charlie Brett taking 1/16 from five.
Lismore sit a win out of the top four, but also has a bye this week with two further games remaining.
In the under 16s, Lismore had a win over Rokewood at Rokewood.
The home team batted first, all out for 77 in the 24th over.
Tyler Daffy, Luke Bond and Breeana Daffy took two wickets each for the visitors.
In reply, Lismore scored 4/85 from its 25 overs.
Breeana Daffy top scored with 19 from 41 balls, with Tyler Daffy making 14 not out, Luke Bond 13 and Jack Fay 12.
This week Lismore play Derrinallum at Derrinallum in the under 16s.
Lismore’s under 12s resume tonight with a game against Carranballac at Lismore.
