Bright flowers for a bright day: Friends of Mount Leura held a stall at the Community House’s Spring Fling on Saturday, October 28.

CAMPERDOWN and District Community House held its first Spring Fling event in Apex Park recently.

A variety of activities were available for people of all ages, including games, craft activities and live music from the Lakes and Craters Band.

The Community House brought out their Swap and Sell stall, which featured a variety of fresh vegetables, fruit and seedlings.

The Friends of Mount Leura held their annual fundraising seedling stall at the Spring Fling, managing to raise over $900 for the project.

Community House coordinator Emily Mercer said the organisation was proud to work with the Friends of Mount Leura group for the day.

“They still have a number of plants in the nursery for sale, so any one who is interested in supporting Friends of Mount Leura and the work they do for local conservation and environmental education and interested in purchasing local indigenous plants to beautify your gardens, please get in touch with Graham on 0418 377 293,” she said.

Camperdown Library also contributed to the day, donating a crate of pre-loved children’s books from the library for families to take home.

Ms Mercer invited the community to take home some of the leftover books, which are available from the Community House venue at 6 Gunner Street, Camperdown.

She also thanked Merle Newling, Heather McDowell, Ellie Blackney, Kay Devlin, Lee Gasser and Wayne Blackney for their contributions to the day.

“We did not have as many families and children coming along for our famous outdoor games and craft activities as we normally do for our Family Fun Days in the park,” she said.

“But that only means we have everything we need already prepared for the next one, which will be our annual Easter Family Fun Day in 2024, which will be held during the Easter school holidays, date to be confirmed.

“APEX Park is such a wonderful community space, and we look forward to hosting more community events that celebrate this fantastic local resource, we hope you can join us.”
