Investigations ongoing surrounding viral video
THERE was a flood of fury online last week after a video circulated online allegedly depicting a Cobden man committing acts of abuse towards a black cat.
The video was published on social media on Wednesday, July 8 and quickly went viral with more than 8400 people infuriated with the actions shown.
Western District Newspapers approached both Victoria Police and RSPCA Victoria with questions regarding the video.
The investigation currently remains with RSPCA Victoria.
An RSPCA Victoria spokesperson confirmed a report had been received regarding the matter and they were investigating.
“As this is an active investigation, we’re unable to provide any further information,” the spokesperson said.
“It is crucial any concerns for animal welfare in the community are reported directly to RSPCA Victoria by first-hand witnesses.
“Anyone with concerns about the welfare of animals is urged to make a report to RSPCA Victoria at rspcavic.org/who-to-call or by calling 9224 2222.”
