Irish stableford at Timboon

SIXTY-FOUR players from clubs around the district competed in an Irish stableford at Timboon Golf Club last Friday, February 7.

The winning team from the East Framlingham Golf Club, Leanne McCann, Lyn Cook, Maria O’Rourke and Adriana Quattrochi.

The winners with 98 points was the East Framlingham team of Adriana Quattrocchi, Maria O’Rourke, Leanne McCanna and Lyn Cook.

The runners-up, with 97 points, were also from East Framlingham.

This team comprised Pauline Armstrong, Shirley Scott, Joanne Porter and Carol Parsons.

Third on countback, also with 97 points, was the Cobden team of Marie Smith, Nettie Hose, Joanne Hintum and Evelyn Boyd.

Nearest the pin: 5th (first shot) Lynette Coxon, Terang Golf Club; 10th (second shot) Jan McCluskey, East Framlingham; 13th (second shot) Donna Weller, Timboon; 14th (second shot) Michelli Fillmore, Apollo Bay.

The winners of last week’s ladies’ 4BBB par event were Judy Walsh and Biddy Weel on +11 from runners-up Susanne Wallace and Heather Finalyson +8.

Eighteen players participated on the day.

Balls down the line went to Steph Delaney and Donna Weller +7.

Nearest the pin: 7th (second shot) was Lynne Newton, 14th (second shot) Nellie Cashmore and Nutrien Ball went to Steph Delaney (in the hole).

Last Saturday, Timboon Golf Club members competed in a four ball best ball stableford event for round one of the Ethnic Cup.

The leaderboard currently stands as follows:

1st R. Edge (12) and P. Gillin (28) on 48 points.

2nd T. O’Connor (36) and A. Gant (29) 48 points.

3rd T. Ziegelaar (12) and J. Rowe (13) 47 points.

4th M. Plozza (16) and Ivan Barlow (28) 46 points.

5th P. Brown (3) and P. Plozza (12) 46 points.

Nutrien Harcourts nearest the pins: 5th Todd Brunt, 7th Judy Delaney, 10th Rodney Edge and 14th Mick Plozza.

Chris Huffadine won a ball for his second shot to the 11th and Ivan Barlow won a ball for his second to the 13th.

On Thursday the 12-hole Railway View chicken day was won by Steve Kerr on 30 points from Steve Plozza with 26.

Nearest the pin was Rhys Ziegelaar.

Next Saturday will be 4BBB stableford for the second round of the Ethnic Cup.
