Our annual contribution with labour for the Camperdown Races and a salad roll and drinks stall had 26 workers on duty.

This was followed up the following week with 16 members cooking and serving lunch following the Corangamite Shire Australia Day celebrations.

Smaller jobs have included barbecues at the February Sunday Market and Camperdown Nursery and Mart’s Ware Street market.

As reported recently, we held the annual Youth of the Year Contest and will be supporting our winning contestant at the next level shortly.

Afternoon tea was supplied for the Returned and Services League annual general meeting and three days later two events took place simultaneously – Community Meal and barbecue and drinks at St Patrick’s Primary School swimming sports.

The first meeting for 2025 was a barbecue picnic in Camperdown Botanic Gardens on a warm evening on February 6.

Special guests for the evening included district governor Michelle Challis and her mother Phillipa, past district governor Les Cropley and Lions partner Deb Stallard and as a thank you to local people who had assisted the club at the Camperdown Show and Races.

DG Michelle presented awards to Bill Duncanson for 50 years of service to Lions, Charter member Dennis Bant for 45 years, Maree Belyea for 25 years and Doreen Brumby for 20 years.

Jeanette Duncanson was congratulated on her contribution over Bill’s 50 years, with 19 years as a Lions Lady then 31 years as a Lion after women were accepted as members.

DG Michelle also presented Jane McSween with her Alan J Holding Community Service Award certificate that was not available when announced in October.

Past DG Les presented Judi Oakes with a certificate for her service to our Lions District in the past Lions year.

All present shared a lovely meal and fellowship in the welcome shade of the gardens.

Coming up in the next few weeks are the St Patrick’s School athletics sports, and we had the Driver Reviver on Friday, March 7, where we aimed to break the journey of travelers heading to Port Fairy and Warrnambool for the long weekend.

Eye testing will be undertaken at Timboon P12School.

Plans are in place for a few social events, including a weekend retreat.

Despite the recent busy time there is always a balance with social activities and after-event get togethers.

Nobody is expected to be at all events and activities but if we had a few more members the load would be shared.

If interested, please make contact with a member or email and check us out to see if Lions is for you.
