Jonty wins apprenticeship award
A COBDEN apprentice from Walsh Plumbing was named the second Year Plumbing Apprentice of the Year at the recent South West TAFE awards night.

Jonty Robertson said he was shocked to receive the award but grateful all the same.
“Honestly it was a bit of a shock, sort of, when I first got told – but I was pretty grateful to win the award,” he said.
“I started work experience through school, then I did one day a week and then I left school early, so I didn’t do Year 12, and started my apprenticeship last year.
“You just get a good variety of stuff and you’re not doing the same thing every day which I like that –it’s good.”
Leigh Walsh, who has been in business for 21 years after his father was also a plumber, said he was proud of Jonty for his efforts.
“It’s pretty good to know that you’re obviously doing some right things at work but also Jonty’s doing good at trade school as well,” he said.
“He’s applying himself and reaping the rewards.”
He had some words of congratulations he gave to Jonty directly, honouring his achievement.
“It’s a good achievement and keep trying to learn and keep getting better,” Mr Walsh said.
