Juniors dominate at home

POMBORNEIT’S under 14 boys team opened their season with a strong win over Alvie at Pomborneit last Friday night.

The visitors batted first, with captain Noah Boyd and vice-captain Bailey Fox taking early wickets to have the visitors on the back foot.

Wally Rees took three wickets in quick succession to put Pomborneit right on top, finishing with 2/3 from two overs.

Jonty Richardson took two wickets with Isla Spokes and Crawford Dunn taking a wicket each as Alvie were bundled out for 40 in the 16th over.

Boyd and Fox got the Bulls off to a strong start, both players retiring simultaneously when the score was passed.

Boyd scored 18 from 18 balls, with Fox making 17 from 18 balls.

Pomborneit batted out their 30 overs, making 5/132, with Max Rahles-Rahbula top scoring with 22 not out and Isla Spokes making 15 not out.

The Bulls fielded four under 14 debutantes, with Wally Rees and Basil Hunt moving up from last season's under 13 team, current under 13 player Jamie Gardiner stepping up and under 17 girls player Meg Nolan playing her first under 14 boys game.

Tonight the under 14 Bulls play West Warrion at Colac's Western Reserve.
