Juniors shine at regionals

SOME of the region’s most talented junior golfers formed a ‘super team’ to compete at the junior regionals in Heathcote late last month.

Players from western, south west, Wimmera and north east district golf associations came together to form the super team for the regionals.

Among the 11-player squad were Terang’s Leo Beasley and Paddy Scanlon, Harper Rix (Cobden), Hugh Kenna (East Framlingham) and Warrnambool’s Blake Heffernan and Elijah McLeod.

After the first day of competition, the Western Super Team was holding first position in the team event, nett competition.

Day two was not the best for the side, however they managed to hold on to take a creditable third place in the nett competition.

Next year’s Golf Australia Junior Regionals will be held at the Terang Golf Club over the weekend of October 17-18.
