ADVENTURE, fun and a healthy dose of endorphins will be on the cards for entrants in the annual Kangaroobie Klassic Adventure Race.

Held in Princetown each year, the adventure race attracts entrants from far and wide.

Race director Mark Cuthell said for some residents Saturday, March 18 will be a day to test their skill, fitness and resolve at the Kangaroobie Klassic Adventure Race.

He said the popular off-road multi-sport race features a one kilometre swim, 14 kilometre mountain bike, six kilometre paddle and seven kilometre trail run which can be participated in as an individual or relay style in teams of two to four people.

“While completing the whole event requires a fair bit of training and preparation; sharing the load with two to four buddies or family members makes it a lot more achievable and a lot more fun,” Mr Cuthell said.

The event makes use of the natural terrain around the Kangaroobie school camp with the swimming and kayak legs held in the Gellibrand River.

This year’s event will be the 13th running of the race.

“With so many participants returning year after year it feels a little like we are welcoming back family,” Mr Cuthell said.

“It is nice to witness the progression of local kids that have grown up with the junior event getting a chance to participate with their parents and those that return from university and living away from the region returning with their friends to participate.”

Spectators are welcome, with the main event and the kid’s events kicking off at 9am.

The Gellibrand Eel off, road triathlon and the Kangaroobie Junior Ninja trail will run together between 1.15pm – 1.45pm.
