WITH the Kangaroobie Klassic done and dusted for 2023 race organisers - the Princetown Institute of Sport - are encouraging local residents to get out and active in our great outdoors.

“With a network of lakes and waterways, running and riding trails we are spoiled for choice for recreational and training opportunities,” race director Mark Cuthell said.

“We have the perfect playground to help to combat a drop off in physical activity that can occur when life gets busy and residents retire from their favourite sports.

“Sometimes entering an event like the Kangaroobie Klassic makes for a little extra motivation for friends and families to get out and get active together and we would like to encourage as many local participants as we can for next year’s event.

“It was fantastic to see an increase in multi generational family and friendship groups in teams this year.”

This year’s event hosted over 200 participants and the hundreds of spectators and support crew were all looked after by over 40 volunteers taking care of participant safety and well being.

“Special thanks have to go to our volunteers and trained volunteer professionals including our Community Emergency Response Team and Port Campbell Surf Lifesaving without whom our event could not run,” Mr Cuthell said.

Entries for next year’s event will be opening next month. For more details and extra information residents can head to the www.kangaroobieklassic.com.au website and follow the Kangaroobie Klassic Facebook page.

“For runners and running groups in the area we would also like to let people know about our sister event the Kangaroobie Base Camp Ultra relay which will be gearing up for its second running on May 13 and 14 (Mother’s Day weekend,)” Mr Cuthell said.
