STUDENTS from Funakoshi Karate International have excelled at a recent tournament in Geelong.

The Geelong championships attracted a strong field of competitors across several age groups and abilities last weekend.

Students from Funakoshi’s Camperdown and Terang dojos put in an “epic performance” according to Shihan Peter Conroy.

“Maddison, Jed, Ava and Emma, as a formal part of their black belt project, successfully completed their referee’s accreditation,” he said.

“They were also on the podium in the Open black belt kata.”

Jed Peach came home with a second and third placing, as did Jill Cole.

“It was a massive day of learning for all students; congratulations to everyone involved,” Shihan Conroy said.
