Keep eyes out for wildlife
DRIVERS are being urged to take extra care when on the road after a car hit a kangaroo last Friday.
Camperdown Police Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Raven said the vehicle was travelling towards Warrnambool on the Princes Highway in Pomborneit when the incident occurred.
“The car was destroyed, and the kangaroo is now deceased,” he said.
“The vehicle was towed.
“There was no-one at fault.
“There’s a lot of wildlife around – I don’t know whether it’s the time of year.
“Drivers need to drive to the conditions and watch out for wildlife.”
Kangaroos and wallabies are most active at dusk and at dawn, but can be encountered at any time of the day on the side of the road.
