Keira shines on the green
CAMPERDOWN Magpies Bowling Club member Keira Johnston has excelled in the Schools Sports National Under 18 bowling competition.
Played at Pine Rivers Bowling Club in Brisbane during the week, the competition attracted some of the nation’s best bowlers.
Keira was a member of the fours and triples teams at the competition, where she was the lead bowler in all games.
Keira played five games last Monday, three in the triples event and two in the fours event, and her team won all five games.
Two more games were played on Tuesday in the triples, with her team having a win and a draw.
These wins helped the Victorian team win the gold medal for the best team overall.
On Wednesday Keira led for the triples in the gold medal playoff against New South Wales and in a very close match Victoria went down 13 shots to 15.
Straight after the triples final, Keira led for the fours team against Queensland for the gold medal match and once again the Victorian team went down in a close game, 14 shots to 15.
Keira will now return home to Camperdown where she will concentrate on the upcoming pennant season with the Camperdown Magpies.
