COBDEN’S division one cricketers are sitting just inside the top five on the South West Cricket ladder after a strong win over Boorcan last weekend.

The Knights put on a great display with the bat in front of their home crowd to finish the day at 6-244.

Being sent in to bat first, the home side were well-served by Johno Benallack who finished unbeaten on 97 and Parker Walsh who contributed 48.

Opener Matthew Boyle also showed good form at the crease, making a quick 35 runs which included six boundaries.

In reply Boorcan were restricted to 10-93 with Regan Nelson the side’s biggest contributor with 33 from 85 balls.

The Knights’ bowlers were extremely effective, limiting Boorcan’s scoring opportunities.

Best of the bowlers for the Knights were Edmund Walsh who took 2-0 off his one over; Matthew Harkin 2-6 from six and Parker Walsh 2-7 from six.

In other round four division one matches last Saturday, Pomborneit defeated Bookaar, Camperdown defeated Ecklin and Heytesbury Princetown were big winners over Woorndoo at home.
