After finishing fourth on the South West association ladder at the end of the home and away season, the club’s division one side now has its eyes on a premiership flag.

Last weekend’s semi-final match against top-of-the-table Bookaar was no doubt a confidence booster for the Knights.

Prior to the weekend, Bookaar had lost just one match for the season and were looking strong premiership contenders.

The Knights, coming off eight wins and four losses for the home and away season, won the toss and elected to bowl on Saturday.

Matthew Harkin led the Knights with the ball, taking 2/33, while Parker Walsh, Simon Murfett, Darcy Meade and Angus Uwland were also effective with a wicket each.

Bookaar was restricted to 10/135 after 46 overs, with Wilba Cheeseman the highest run scorer with 26.

In reply, the Knights surpassed the total in the 34th over, reaching 4/136.

Captain Johno Benallack led the way with an unbeaten 49 from 85 deliveries which included four boundaries and a six.

Team-mate Parker Walsh also finished the day unbeaten on 43, including six boundaries.

They will now face Pomborneit in Saturday’s division one grand final.

In the division two semi-final, the Knights faced the fourth-placed Ecklin after finishing top of the ladder.

Like their division one counterparts, the Knights’ won the toss and elected to bowl.

Some strong work in the field, and tight bowling, saw the Knights restrict Ecklin to 7/149 after 40 overs.

Jia Anderson 2/20 and Michael Pegg 2/26 were the best with the ball.

In reply, the Knights amassed 9/153 in the 40th over, with co-captains Ashley Rosolin (unbeaten on 45) and Luke Hickey 35.

This Saturday will see the Knights take on Storm in the division two grand final.
