FEW industries were as hard hit as the travel industry in the wake of COVID-19.

With flights cancelled, the boarder closed indefinitely and a pandemic sweeping the globe, life was grim for travel agents like Camperdown’s Kim Tracey.

The Helloworld Travel Camperdown tour manager said the travel industry was the “first hit, the hardest hit and the last to recover” as a result of COVID.

She said she was looking forward to the future with restrictions lifting acrossthe world.

“The industry has still not returned to normal, but it is getting there,” she said.

“The regulations are easing, so it’sgetting easier."

“The more regulations are easing, the more confidence people have. It’s becoming easier to travel."

“People are still concerned about getting COVID, but being vaccinated does help.”

Ms Tracey said customers need to be aware full services in the industry have not resumed, and patience is needed.

“One of the biggest hurdles we’re facing is full services haven’t resumed,” she said.

“The turnaround times as well are makingit hard."

“People are still going to need to be patient."

“It’s preferred if people make an appointment, just because we’re not back to our previous staff levels.”

Ms Tracey thanked the wider community for its support throughout the numerous lockdowns.

“One the things that got me through COVID was the loyalty and care from clients and the community,” she said.

“They really did help me get through this. I can’t thank them enough.”
