COBDEN sits just half a game outside the top five after last weekend’s loss to ladder leaders, South Warrnambool.

The Bombers remain just two points behind the improving Koroit in fifth and will be looking to sneak into the five when they take on the Saints at their home ground this weekend.

Last Saturday’s round nine clash was a tough one for the home side, who, after a strong first quarter, were limited in scoring opportunities for the remainder of the game.

The first term saw the Bombers get off to a flyer, kicking five goals three while containing the visitors to just one goal, two behinds.

However, the second half saw the Roosters come out strong, adding a further four majors and six behinds while the Bombers added just one point.

Only four points separated the two sides at the main break, however, the Roosters were able to add six goals in the second half while the Bombers added just one major.

Final scores were South Warrnambool 11.16.82 to Cobden 6.7.43.

Best for the Bombers were Patrick Smith, Zac Green, Rhys Unwin, Ben Berry, Paul Pekin and Jack Hammond.
