Ladies contest first monthly medal round
TERANG Golf Club ladies contested the first round of their monthly medal last week.
Thursday also saw the start of the ladies’ championships as well as the putting event.
A grade was won by Marion Venn with 83-15-68 followed by Judy Carmody 93-19-74.
Jane Heffernan won B grade on 105-30-75, with Lynette Coxon runner-up 111-35-76.
Balls down the line went to Sharee Scanlon 92-14-78, Elaine Hrabar 105-26-79 and Heather Holmes 96-17-6-79.
Nearest the pins: 3rd Marion Venn, 6th Linda Kenna, 11th Marion Venn and 9th from off the green, Elaine Hrabar.
The putting was won by Marion Venn.
The first round of championships saw Marion Venn take the win in A grade on 83, followed by Sharee Scanlon 92, Kate Cornelissen 93 and Judy Carmody 93.
B grade was won by Elaine Hrabar 105, followed by Jo Arundell 105, Maureen Bond 107 and Karen Mather 111.
Jane Heffernan finished on 33 points to win C grade, with Lynette Coxon also on 33, Janine Fitzpatrick 32 and Linda Kenna 31.
Results of the all-day stableford event saw Darcy Hutchins win the day with an outstanding score of 43 points, followed by George Beasley on 39.
Balls down the line went to Colin Venn 36, Billy Wood 35 and Leo Beasley 35.
Nearest the pins: 8th George Beasley and 11th Chris Coolahan.
The nine-hole winner was Sybil Ubergang on 19 points.
Next week will be the second round of the ladies’ championships, all-day stroke and also an all-day stableford event.
