THE Cobden Golf Club was awash in pink as part of the 2026 Week of Golf which included a ladies’ day last Thursday to fundraise for breast cancer.

Women gathered from across the region for a day on the green, dressed up for the occasion to support a worthy cause and enjoy an afternoon tea and raffle inside the club.

Event coordinator Janine Stevens said the day went off without a hitch and it was fantastic to have so many women involved.

“It is great to see so many people supporting this day,” she said.

“This is our second year that we’ve raised money for the Breast Cancer Network and it’s grown from last year which is a great thing to see.

“Hopefully we can keep it growing – we raised $3000 last year and we’re trying to do better this year.

“Everybody has been affected by breast cancer whether it’s your mother, your daughter, your sister, your auntie – even men suffer from breast cancer, so it’s good to put some money in for the research of it and they’re a great support network for people who’ve got cancer.

“I think it’s just a great thing to try to support them as much as we can.”

Attendee Deb Ferrari said the day was less about winning and more about supporting a good cause.

“We’re all winners today because it’s all for breast cancer,” she said.

“There will be winners but it doesn’t matter, it’s all for the cause, that’s the way I see it.

“You’ve got to have a go.

“I want to thank my partner Carmel Darcy as well.”

Women came from golf clubs across the district to support the event, and East Framlingham Golf Club member Maureen O’Loughlan said she was happy to make the trip out to be a part of the event.

“We’re very happy to support a day like this, especially a nice country club like Cobden,” she said.

“It’s a worthy cause because many of us would know someone that has been touched by breast cancer so we’re very happy to support it.

“We’re very happy to come down and visit some of these other clubs.”
