MORE than 300 people celebrated women in dairy last week at the popular annual South West Dairy Ladies’ Luncheon.

MORE than 300 people celebrated women in dairy last week at the popular annual South West Dairy Ladies’ Luncheon.
The event provided an opportunity for the ladies in the local dairy community to come together, hear inspiring speakers, shop for gifts and socialise with others in the community.
Bernadette Wurlod from Keayang Maar Vineyard and dairy farmers Elizabeth Clarke and Val Crawford shared perspectives on everything from the greatest challenges then and now, to the important role women have in keeping families and communities together.
Keynote speaker Pip Courtney shared her journey from Tasmania to her current position as the host of Landline.
Daughter of well-known print journalist and editor Michael Courtney, at school Ms Courtney tossed up between two careers – wool classing and journalism, but when it came to choosing a career, journalismwon out.
On graduating from university, she joined ABC News in Hobart and in 1993 she combined her two interests when she joined the Landline team.
With a number of prestigious awards in journalism under her belt, Ms Courtney was appointed host of Landline in 2012.
Ms Courtney shared her love of connecting with and sharing the stories of Australia’s incredible rural producers and communities.
She also interviewed entrepreneurial local farming ladies in a panel session focussed around the event theme of ‘Telling Stories’.
