Ladies to raise funds for charity
CAMPERDOWN’S Football Netball Club is inviting residents to have a fun night out while raising funds for a good cause next weekend.
The club will be hosting its annual Ladies Day event on Saturday, May 3, with this year’s proceeds going towards Carrie’s Beanies for Brain Cancer.
Organiser Chloe O’Brien said the event, which is held at the Reid Stockfeeds Function Centre at Leura Oval, has become a tradition of the club.
“We just raise money for a particular fundraiser – usually it’s for cancer,” she said.
“We have two ambassadors who are coming to speak – Sam (McGuane, chief executive officer of The Brain Cancer Centre) and Carrie (Bickmore, founder of Carrie’s Beanies for Brain Cancer), which will be really great. Carrie will be doing a video call for us.
“It’ll be great to have them as part of the day.
“We’re also bringing in something a bit different this year – we’ve got Vintage Gnotuk and Here – local businesses – that are going to come and do a bit of a fashion parade with our netballers, which will be really great.
“It’ll be something different to put on for the day, which we’re really looking forward to.”
The Ladies Day, which will commence from 2.30pm, will be emceed by Riley Stephenson and will included live music, an auction, a cocktail hour and raffles.
Ms O’Brien said she hoped the Ladies Day would help to raise awareness and funds for the important cause.
“We always host against North Warrnambool – they’ve been great at supporting our event,” she said.
“Usually it’s later in the season, but we’ve brought it forward to be able to accommodate for them to join in and support the cause.”
Tickets are $30 per person and include a drink on arrival and finger food and can be booked online at https://camperdownmagpies.com.au/product/2025-ladies-day-ticket.
