Lake Purrumbete Angling Club notes
LAST Thursday the Victorian Fishing Authority, with the help of Lake Purrumbete Angling (LPAC) Club members, released into Lake Purrumbete 35,000 chinook salmon fingerlings.
These add to the rainbow, brown and tiger trout already stocked into Lake Purrumbete and Lake Bullen Merri so far this year.
These regular stockings ensure that our local crater lakes remain the premier trout and chinook salmon fishery in Victoria, if not Australia.
The Lake Purrumbete Angling Club has changed its meeting nights to the second Friday night of each month with the October meeting being held on October 11 at 7.30pm at the LPAC clubrooms.
This should make it easier for interested people and juniors to come along and meet fellow anglers without having work or school commitments the following day.
Anyone interested is welcome to come along and see what we have to offer.
Also on October 13 from 10am until 2pm the Lake Purrumbete Angling Club, in conjunction with the Camperdown Angling Club, the Cobden Angling Club and VR Fish will be holding a ‘Gone Fishing’ day at the Lake Bullen Merri South Beach Foreshore.
This day will be to promote the local angling clubs, showcase what we have to offer and also to highlight the local fishing opportunities, the best way to get started, target the many species of fish available and how to catch them.
The day will include a free sausage sizzle with soft drinks casting competitions and lessons, free fishing rod hire with bait (no fishing licence required), plus some giveaways on the day.
Should be a great day so why not come along and you never know you might go home with one of the Lake Bullen Merri’s trophy trout or salmon.
