LAKE Cobden was a hive of activity over the weekend, with an enthusiastic group of volunteers helping out around the lake.

Lake Cobden project co-ordinator Frank Martin said Sunday was a glorious day to be working at the lake.

“There have been issues recently with the platforms becoming slippery so we have started laying chicken mesh over them,” he said.

“We completed the two on the north side yesterday and plan to do the three on the south bank next Sunday.

“A good crew should knock that job over in three hours.”

Mr Martin said placing mesh over the bridge had worked well and expected similar results on the platforms.

As well as working on the mesh installation, a group of dedicated volunteers spent time weeding around the lake.

The next working bee will be held on Sunday from 10am.
