AS the Camperdown Pool Committee of Management wraps up another season, those who braved the lap swimming challenge were recognised for their efforts earlier this month.

The award ceremony was held over the Labour Day long weekend, with first, second and third place winners announced for three categories.

Pool committee president Ruth Barber said the season-long competition sees a variety of swimmers participate.

“It’s a great achievement, the pool committee being able to run an event that goes all season and signifies all the hard work some of these people put in,” she said.

In the 18 and over lap swimming category, Luke Woodmason was named winner for the male category after swimming 1360 laps in the pool.

Female 18 and over category winner Jane Kingston was also a regular at the pool during the 2024-2025 season, swimming a total of 3160 laps.

In the 11-17 junior category, Jonah Elliot-Wain and Sicily Thun were named winners for the male and female categories, swimming a total of 1150 and 1347 laps respectively.

Will Sinnott and Pippa Woodmason were named winners of the male and female junior under 10 categories, swimming 306 and 540 laps respectively throughout the season.

Mrs Barber said the committee was looking forward to the 2025-2026 season and are always looking for new members to join the committee.

“It’s not a huge commitment to be on the pool committee,” she said.

“It’s not onerous, and it’s all about trying to make the pool a great place to come to.

“We’re looking for a few people to come onto the committee with a few ideas for either fundraising events or being able to give back to our patrons – definitely that.
