CORANAGMITE Shire residents have just one week left to nominate inspirational people in their community for the 2024 Community Volunteer Awards.

Nominations for the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the year and Community Event of the Year awards will close on Friday, October 27.

Mayor Ruth Gstrein encouraged people to submit their nominations to recognise the great work being done by members of the community.

“The awards are a way to recognise the volunteers who give their time to help make Corangamite such a great place to live,” she said.

“There are some amazing people doing great work—often year after year—that we all benefit from, and this is your opportunity to recognise them for their efforts.

“Acknowledging them as an example will hopefully inspire other people to get involved and contribute to this great shire of ours.

“Nomination forms and guidelines are available on the shire website or at the Civic Centre and I encourage people to nominate somebody who they think is a worthy recipient.”

Cr Gstrein said residents can get in touch with their local councillor or talk to council staff for help preparing their submission.

The awards will be presented at the Skipton Mechanics Institute Hall on Friday, January 26, 2024.

Nomination forms and guidelines are available at www.corangamite.vic.gov.au/VolunteerAwards or by calling council on 5593 7100.
