Last chance for shire’s quick grants
CORANGAMITE Shire community groups will have one final opportunity to make the most of the 2021/2022 Corangamite Shire Council Quick Response Grants program next month.

CORANGAMITE Shire community groups will have one final opportunity to make the most of the 2021/2022 Corangamite Shire Council Quick Response Grants program next month.
Six additional community groups were among those to receive funding under this month’s allocation at the Ordinary Meeting of Council this last, including:
• Noorat and District Progress Association - $112 to purchase materials to make Noorat Christmas decorations.
• Power Creek Reserve Committee of Management - $500 towards weed control and planting; and
• Cobden Historical Society - $500 for installation of a flagpole.
Cr Nick Cole moved the motion, saying the Quick Response Grants “meant a lot” to organisations which received funding.
“These small grants make the world of difference to a small organisation,” he said.
“They’re quick, easy and everyone’s happy."
“It’s not always the big things we do, sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference to the community.”
Cr Geraldine Conheady seconded the motion, saying the allocation of Quick Response Grants was always an enjoyable aspect of the council meetings.
“It is a pleasure to be able to help out these organisations with materials that are essential for them to continue doing their work,” she said.
Cr Conheady encouraged community groups to get in quick for the final round of funding under the 2021/2022 Quick Response Grants program next month.
“I will remind our communities we still do have some money remaining and we’ve got one more month left where you can take advantage of that,” she said.
“I certainly encourage any organisations in the Corangamite community to have a look and see if there is something we can help them with.”
The motion was unanimously carried.
The final round of the 2021/2022 Quick Response Grants program will be allocated at next month’s council meeting prior to the replenishment of the funds under a new year of the program from July 1.
The 2021/2022 Quick Response Grants program began with a budget allocation of $17,500 with each ward not exceeding 1/7th of the fund’s budget, and 3/7th of the annual budget for the larger Central Ward.
Just $588 remains under the 2021/2022 Quick Response Grants allocation for the Central Ward.
Both the Coastal and North wards have exhausted their respective allocations.
