LESS than 24 hours remain to nominate inspiring members of the community for recognition in the 2024 Community Volunteer Awards.
Nominations for the Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year awards will close tomorrow on Friday, October 27.
Corangamite Shire mayor Ruth Gstrein encouraged people to submit their nominations to recognise “the great work being done by members of the community”.
“The awards are a way to recognise the volunteers who give their time to help make Corangamite such a great place to live,” she said.
“There are some amazing people doing great work—often year after year—that we all benefit from, and this is your opportunity to recognise them for their efforts.
“Acknowledging them as an example will hopefully inspire other people to get involved and contribute to this great Shire of ours.”
“Nomination forms and guidelines are available on the shire website or at the Civic Centre.”
Cr Gstrein encouraged people to nominate somebody who they think was a worthy recipient.
“Get in touch with your local councillor or talk to council staff for help preparing your submission so you can put forward the strongest case for your nominee,” she said.
The awards will be presented at the Skipton Mechanics Institute Hall on Friday, January 26 in 2024.
Nomination forms and guidelines are available at www.corangamite.vic.gov.au/VolunteerAwards or by calling council on 5593 7100.
