Learn about edible weeds on rail trail

LOCALS will have an opportunity to learn more about the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail thanks to a joint initiative.

By wd-news

The Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail Committee of Management and the Heytesbury District Landcare Network (HDLN) are joining forces to host a session on Monday, November 18 in Cobden.

Committee chairman Pat Robertson said the event will begin with a guided walk along a section of the Cobden portion of the rail trail, where those in attendance will learn about the edible weeds along the trail.

“We’re trying to encourage Cobden people to get more involved in the rail trail,” she said.

“We are having a session with Ammie Jackson who is going to be talking about edible weeds.

“It should be very interesting.

“We’re encouraging everyone to attend.”

Ms Jackson has a life-long love of plants and has been teaching edible weeds workshops for more than 10 years.

Following the guided walk, attendees are invited to a barbecue at the Cobden Golf Club.

The free event will start at 5pm at the McKenzie Street exit of the trail.
