Learn more about financial services

RESIDENTS are being invited to learn more about Services Australia’s Financial Information Service (FIS) through free sessions at local libraries.

The FIS provides free, independent, and confidential education and information to assist in making decisions about current and future financial needs.

The service can assist residents in understanding their aged care costs, talk about retirement options, provide information to help residents start or return to work and help residents understand their options with lump sum payments such as redundancy, compensation payments and inheritance.

Two sessions will be held in Camperdown and Derrinallum on Thursday, July 31, with the Derrinallum session running from 1.30-2.30pm and the Camperdown session running from 4-5pm.

FIS officer Amanda Winsall and Farm Household case officer Bronwyn Tinkler will explain how residents can access FIS, who can access their services and an overview of the Farm Household Allowance and how a Farm Household Case officer can assist residents.

Ms Winsall and Ms Tinkler said they were looking forward to the upcoming sessions.

“We’re excited to be able to meet with residents of the Corangamite and Moyne Shires at the local libraries and provide some information on how the Financial Information Services and Farm Household case officers can assist the community,” they said.

“We are looking forward to sharing information and showing just how easy it is to access our services.

“You don’t need to be getting a payment from Services Australia to access our Financial Information Service – it’s free and open to anyone.”

Sessions also being held in Cobden, Timboon, Terang and Mortlake.
