Lest we forget

RESIDENTS will have plenty of opportunities to pay their respects at a number of Anzac Day services over two days.

In Simpson, the annual community service will begin at the flagpole at Jaycees Park at 10.30am on Wednesday (today).

Simpson Primary School children will complete readings, with community member Bree Jones to emcee the service.

Also on Wednesday, the third annual Cobden Technical School and Cobden Cemetery Trust initiative which see’s Australian flags placed besides graves of those who have served at war at the Cobden Cemetery.

A service will be held for the community from 11.30am.

On Anzac Day, the traditional Port Campbell dawn service will be held at the township’s war memorial.

Residents will be then be able to pay their respects at the second annual Timboon Action service in Timboon.

A march will leave from the Timboon Senior Citizens Centre at 7.45am and conclude at the Timboon War Memorial in the Power Creek precinct followed by a commemorative service and breakfast.

The annual 1st Cobden Scout Group led service in Cobden will begin at 11am at the Cobden cenotaph.

More than 35 wreathes are expected to be laid on behalf of community groups.

Tea and coffee will be on offer following the service.
