Life honour for Darcy Howard

Well deserved: Timboon stalwart Kevin ‘Darcy’ Howard, pictured with chairman of the Timboon Aberlea Advisory Committee Martin Van De Wouw and Aberlea board chair Mick Murphy OAM, was presented a life membership for his contribution to Aberlea Timboon.
IF you have purchased a raffle ticket in Timboon in recent years, chances are it was from Kevin ‘Darcy’ Howard.
A community stalwart, Mr Howard has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Aberlea Timboon project.
Last week he was presented with a life membership for his contributions to the project.
Treasurer of the Aberlea board and chairman of the Timboon Aberlea Advisory Committee Martin Van De Wouw congratulated Mr Howard on the recognition and is efforts over the years.
He said Mr Howard’s contributions had contributed to the success of the project.
“We’ve had four raffles a year and I think Darcy has been involved in them all,” Mr Van De Wouw said.
“For years Darcy and a few of his mates have collected scrap metal and they arranged with the Freemasons to match it dollar-for-dollar.”
Aberlea board chair Mick Murphy OAM also paid tribute to Mr Howard’s efforts.
“Thank you for what you’ve done over the years Darcy, we wouldn’t be here without you,” he said.
Mr Howard thanked all those involved with the presentation.
“I appreciate it very much,” he said.
Mr Howard said it had been a joint effort in collecting the scrap metal and thanked the Freesmasons for their contributions.
