WOORNDOO Mortlake senior footballer Will Paulin has been named the club’s best and fairest for season 2023.

At the club’s annual vote count and presentation day last Sunday, Paulin topped the leaderboard, finishing ahead of runner-up Matthew Pemberton.

In the reserves vote count, the best and fairest award went to Ben Makepeace, with Tom Carmichael the runner-up.

Talented A grade netballer Elise Killen took out the club’s top award, closely followed by team-mate Mia Richie.

Richie also won the 18 and under vote count, closely followed by Killen.

In the B grade count, goaler Tasha Killen topped the poll to take home the best and fairest award, with the runner-up trophy going to sister Jaime Killen.

C grade was won by Sara Kosch, with Mel Dyson taking the runner-up award.

In the 15 and under awards, Ava Wardlaw topped off a great season being named best and fairest for the team while Lucy Carmody was the runner-up.

A special presentation of life membership was made during the afternoon to David Wade.

Wade, who first volunteered as a trainer at the club in 1987 after being approached by the late John ‘Rippa’ Richie, has enjoyed a long association with the Tigers.

Over the years he has held several positions both at club and Mininera League level, including treasurer, bar manager and gate keeper for the Tigers while also being on the committee, board and an administrator for Mininera.

Wade, along with former fellow committee member Dean Robertson, initiated the home game newsletter ‘Tigertalk’ in the mid-1990s writing articles and contributing previous results and ladders for both football and netball.

He continues to enjoy his involvement at both club and league level while also working hard to ensure the ground is in good condition for each home game.
