LIKE A Wildfire produced a stunning run to win by a neck over Tonkin Stewart Racing stablemate Phoenix Prince in the $50,000 Terang Co-Op Pacing Cup.

Driver Leigh Sutton eased the Emma Stewart-trained seven year-old to the tail of the field and sat 25 metres off the pace for the first half of the race after Demon Delight made a fast start to take the lead.

A challenge from Tango Tara at the bell saw the field open up, and as the paced picked up Sutton took advantage of the space to move up along the pegs to sit third back with 450 metres left to run.

The race opened up further into the final straight and Sutton raced up the sprint lane to explode over the last hundred, beating Phoenix Prince past the post by a neck with Highway to Heaven four metres back in third.

Like A Wildfire hopes to run in the Miracle Mile at Menangle on Saturday, March 5, and if so will take some confidence into the race after his finish in the Terang Pacing Cup.
