The Firsts, defending 229 at the Jones Oval in Warrnambool, found the ground much quicker than the previous week.

Home side Nirranda Titans got off to a good start, putting 57 on the board in the first 17 overs before Gus Bourke made the initial break through.

Tyson Hay looked the most impressive of the quick bowlers, hitting the deck hard and looking likely to take a wicket with each ball.

Tim Keane’s introduction at the other end with his spin combining with Hay, turned the game on its head.

Keane returned the figures of 13 overs, 4-23, this included a smart caught and bowled, as well as two catches in the slips.

Hay bowled seven overs, 2-4.

A smart piece of fielding by Bourke resulted in a direct throw run-out from side on.

He got the last wicket and finished with 2-30 while fellow opener Sam Munro took 1-26.

Effectively Nirranda Titans lost 10-52 to be dismissed for 109.

With 30 overs to bat, some players were given the opportunity to have a bat with Hay and Bourke opening the innings.

Hay made 35 off 27 balls and Bourke 21 off 23.

Luke Kenna and Stephen O’Connor retired with 34 and 20 respectfully.

Stumps were drawn early with the Lions 3-123 off 26 overs.

This weekend the club will contest its first T20 match when they play Allansford Panmure at Allansford at 11am before returning to Terang to host Dennington at 3.15pm.

The seconds had the bye while the thirds travelled to Winslow to play Spring Creek.

Spring Creek batted first and while wickets were hard to come by the bowlers restricted the runs.

Young opening bowling pair Charlie Roberts and Darcy Abbott bowled eight overs each, finishing with 1-15 and 0-17.

Dean Abbott was the most successful taking 2-24.

Chasing 3-125 the Lions added 32 for the opening wicket and then lost the second without addition to the total.

Playing his first senior game, Flynn Gleeson joined Dean Abbott and the pair added a club record third wicket partnership of 96 to win the game.

Abbott finished with 72no off 76 balls with eight boundaries and a six while Gleeson was 25no from 85 balls.

The under 17s played two T20 games on Sunday.

While losing both, it was a much better batting performance being able to face all their overs.

The first game was against West Warrnambool and 7-65 was going to be hard to defend.

Charlie Kenna 13 and Hugh Kenna 11no were the main contributors.

With the ball Hugh Kenna, Sam Lillico and Tayte McMaster all took a wicket.

The second game was against Northern Raiders and the Lions set a competitive total of 7-112.

Caleb Bamford 25, Charlie Kenna 20, Hugh Kenna 17no and Isaac Byron and Jack Farrell both made 10.

Hugh Kenna and Jack Farrell both took two wickets and Charlie Roberts took one as the Raiders chased down the total.

The under 15s have set Northern Raiders 184 to chase this Friday.

Jack Farrell 45 from 63 balls with five boundaries, Paddy Scanlon 43 from 59 balls, Flynn Gleeson 30 from 70 with two boundaries and Riley McIntosh 14 from 18 with two boundaries were the major scorers.

The under 13s in their two-day match against the Northern Raiders at the half way mark are behind the eight ball.

After their 24 overs they were 5-86 with Ollie Clarke 43 ret from 56 balls with seven boundaries.

Ned Abbott made 21 from 49 balls with three boundaries.

Northern Raiders, after their 24 overs, were 4-126 with Noah Conheady, Ned Abbott and Bradley Wallace each taking a wicket and there was a run out.

This game continues this Thursday afternoon with the Raiders continuing to bat for another 24 overs unless dismissed with the Lions to bat again.

Lucia Clarke is currently representing the region, playing with the under 15 Western Waves side in Hamilton in the Cricket Victoria Country Cup.

The Waves currently sit on top. Lucia has bowled in each game with figures of 2-20 from 6.2 overs, 1-6 from two, 1-17 from three and 0-5 from three.
