Lions hold second spot

WITH eight wins on the board, the Noorat Terang Lions are holding on to second spot on the Warrnambool District division two ladder.

With round 11 due to be played on Saturday January 6, the Lions are now enjoying a well-earned break after a great start to the season in their newly amalgamated club.

Facing Nirranda at the Port Campbell Recreation Reserve last Saturday, the Lions lost the toss and the Knights elected to bat first.

Thanks to some effective bowling and good performances in the field, the Lions were able to contain their opponents to 10/103 in the 37th over.

Gus Bourke was the best of the bowlers, taking 3/4 off his nine overs which included six maidens.

Mark Clissold’s 2/19 and captain Liam Geary with 2/27 were also effective at the crease.

In return, the Lions made 5/104 after 30 overs with Bailey Kavenagh’s unbeaten 49 the highlight of the innings.
